Golf Equipment - Driving or Duffing

Posted by admin

Woah, keep the wallet in your pants big boy. We’ve got some explaining to do first. Basic golf equipment of some kind is a must for anyone looking to take up this ancient game. Golf equipment like a good set of golf clubs, comfortable golf shoes, and a roomy but practical golf bag are essential to start your golfing adventure. But don’t go overboard here. Your just learning the game after all, and while good golf equipment is essential, there’s no point in blowing a whole wad before you really decide how much you like the game of golf and vice a versa. And as with many sports, the ultra high tech, high performance golf equipment won’t really make a big difference to the beginner or for that matter average golfer. After a few years, once you’ve achieved brilliance on the course, and are beginning to pass the average to above average skill level, then it’s time to consider the more advanced golf equipment.

Hitting The Clubs

Your clubs are probably the first piece of golf equipment to consider for an upgrade, once your on the verge of challenging Tiger for the crown. You could decide to replace the entire set of clubs, if money is no object, and your appetite for golf domination has no bounds. But there is another option to consider. There are probably many golf clubs in your bag, that haven’t seen the light of day, or the green of a course since the last time you paid for drinks on the nineteenth hole. So, maybe you should just consider gradually replacing the clubs you really use with new high performance clubs. The next few times you go golfing, don’t just keep track of the strokes on each hole. Take an extra golf score card, and just track of the golf clubs you use for each hole. A little more work, but after a few weeks, you should have a pretty good idea of which golf clubs you use the most, and which are just coming along for the ride. You may want to make up your own little custom golf club score card just for this exercise.

These Shoes Were Made For Swinging

Comfort is of course a major consideration when choosing golf shoes. You’re going to be traipsing across eighteen fairways (or more), and you don’t need to be doing that in blisters. A good grip and solid support are also important in picking out golf shoes. As with many sports, a good base (your feet) can make all the difference in the world. Proper foot positioning, and support, are essentially the beginnings of a great golf swing. The pros, or staff at a good golf equipment store can be helpful in choosing a pair of golf shoes that are appropriate for you. Don’t be afraid to spend in this category, as it is practically impossible to blow the bank on a pair of shoes, and your feet will love you for it.

Golf Goes Bizzare

Alright, I’m sure you’ve seen all the contraptions, and medieval like torture devices in the infomercials guarantying to take strokes off your golf game. Well, like I said in the first paragraph, put away the wallet big boy. Instead find your self a good golf pro instead. I’m sure every golf course you frequent has a pro of a least dubious stature. Ask around a bit, and see if any of your other buddies had good success with a pro. Setup some regular lessons, and put in the practice time. That’s the best sure fire way to improve your game. And then, once your golf game has ascended stratospheric levels, maybe you can justify buying those ultra super fantastic new clubs you’ve been drooling over all season.

Are You Using The Right Golf Balls?

Posted by admin

Contrary to what many people think, all golf balls are not made alike. In fact, they are so diverse that there have been over 5,000 design patents for golf balls given in the last ten years. It may seem like they haven’t changed in decades, but golf balls are some of the most researched and advanced pieces of equipment in any sport today.

Selecting a ball that is right for the way you swing is critical to your golf game. As important as picking the right set of clubs, you need to find the type of golf ball that matches your style of play and your golf swing. Different golf balls have a different spin and a different feel. They are made with different cover materials and of varying density. Picking the one that works for you depends on your skill level and how you hit the ball.

The first thing you might look at is the compression of the ball. This relates to how tightly the ball is wound. The lower the compression the softer the ball. Softer balls are better if you have a slow swing, they will fly farther but are harder to control. High compression balls, on the other hand are easier to control but are best used by those with a fast swing.

To decide which golf ball is best for you, you can divide them into 3 general categories. The solid two piece ball is the most common and, of course, the cheapest. It is comprised of a hard cover over an inner core. This is a good ball for beginners which can often hit the ball thin or fat.

The three piece ball is multilayered. Softer than the two piece ball, it gives you more control but won’t fly as far. This ball is recommended for intermediate players as it will let you get more spin and control over your shots. The three piece ball is more expensive than the two piece but can add an edge to your play if you are past the beginner stage and looking for something to give you an edge.

The high performance balls can be rather costly and won’t last as long as the other types of balls. These balls are for the expert player who wants more control and spin than the three piece ball can offer. Although it is costly, this type of golf ball has what it takes to go the distance.

Buying The Best Golf Club Set

Posted by admin

What should you look for in a set of golf clubs? How do I know which set is best for me and my current abilities? What about getting clubs custom made for my size and level of strength? These are just some of the questions you should be asking yourself before you decide to go out and buy a new set of golf clubs. After all this can mean the difference between seeing an improvement in your game or indeed a decline. Which one would you prefer?

Golf Clubs – Woods

How do you know which type of would you need for your game? Well if you are a beginner to the game of golf, you need to look for woods that have a more flat face. The reason for this is because a flat face will increase the likelihood of your ball going straighter down the fairway. This however will also mean that you will be sacrificing distance for overall accuracy. If you have been playing for quite some time now, a better option would be finding a wood that is more curved and therefore has a stronger “sweet spot”. This will increase the distance of your shots, but reduce the accuracy.

Golf Clubs – The Driver

Should I use the driver for all of my tee shots on par 4’s and par 5’s? For a beginner, having a type of golf club like the driver in your bag usually in more of a hindrance than a help. Why? Because when starting out in golf people should focus more on accuracy than overall distance. Just because you can drive 300 yards doesn’t mean you should do it all the time. Beginners should start by using the 5 or 3 wood initially for all their drives as they tend to be more accurate. Take this into consideration next time you head down for a round at your local golf club.

Golf Clubs – Irons

How can I tell the difference between a good iron and a bad one? There are two main things you should look for in an iron. One, the amount of grooves on the face and two, the size of the sweet spot on the back of the face. The amount of grooves on the face will determine the level of spin you are able to produce. Some golfers prefer to have less grooves because they feel they can get more distance, but I prefer to choose control above anything else. In actual fact you should not have to worry about distance so much so because if you find a set of golf clubs that contain a strong and central sweet spot, this will be an automatic thing.

Golf Clubs – The Putter

There are three different types of putters: the normal grip putter, the belly putter and the broomstick putter. Most people tend to go for the normal putter as this is the most easiest to learn initially. However many people who have learnt how to use the belly putter and the broomstick putter have had much success. The only thing that matters is “what works best for you”. Try testing them all out. You never know, it might be the missing ingredient in your game!

Each year, a large number of individuals take a summer trip. These trips may involve a summer vacation with the family, a romantic trip with your partner, or a trip with friends. No matter who you vacation with, selecting a summer vacation destination can be difficult. It is sometimes hard to find a destination that offers activities that everyone will enjoy. If you are an avid golfer, you may want to consider vacationing at a golf resort.

Golf resorts are found all around the world. If you are looking for a golf resort in the United States, you have a large number of destinations to choose from. The cost of a golf resort stay includes the use of onsite facilities, and the use of golf courses may include golfing, private lessons, and golf cart use. If someone in your vacationing party will not be golfing, they should not have to pay to use the these services. Many of the courses, located in the United States, will not charge full price for non golfers.

If you are interested in vacationing at a golf resort, but you are on a budget, there are a number of ways that you can save money. You can search for online golf resort coupons or you can search for golf resort packages. These packages can be found online through a number of different discount travel websites. If you want to spend hours or even days golfing then a golf resort vacation may be just what you need. Whether you are vacationing alone, with your family, or with friends, you can all find activities and excitement at one of the many golf resorts located in the United States.

Let me finish this article by saying that there is a lot more information on this subject available in your local bookstore, library, or indeed by searching on the internet, it just takes a little effort to uncover some real gems.

Golf swing improvement can be elusive for most golfers. I have
read many articles and studies on the huge number of golfers
quitting the game every year. They are tired of putting in the
time, buying equipment, taking lessons, and purchasing every
golf training aid on the market only to see no golf swing
improvement.

You can’t fault a frustrated golfer who experiences the above
and quits. Life is too short to spend 5 hours on a golf course
and not enjoy it.

Let’s discuss why this happens!

First off, golf swing improvement should be approached from the
inside-out. That means starting with your body. If your body has
physical restrictions, you won’t ever be able to make a
repeatable golf swing with any power or accuracy. It’s a
physical impossibility.

You can try-and-try, but it won’t happen!

You body dictates your golfing ability. Like in any sport, raw
talent is hard to come by and is only for a small percent of the
athletic community.

Do you feel like you should be a better golfer? How many times
have you walked off the course in disgust…knowing you should
have played much better? This is a common occurrence and one
that can be fixed quickly.

The right approach to golf swing improvement is one that looks
at your current golf swing faults and the ‘physical’ reason
behind it. I see this all the time. A golfer takes a lesson; the
instructor tells the golfer what he needs to do; and the golfer
can’t do it!

What a frustrating situation!

For every swing fault, there is an underlying ‘physical’ reason
why it keeps happening.

Let me give you one of many examples to substantiate the above
statement.

You are a slicer. That means you come “over-the-top” with your
upper body. Do you want to know one of the many reasons why this
happens?

Here goes!

You have poor core strength and flexibility.

If your body cannot initiate the downswing with the lower body,
especially the hips rotating; it is because your core muscles
are sending a message to your brain saying, “we can’t do this,
so figure out another way (compensation) to get me back to the
ball.”

Now the upside to this scenario.

You work on your core rotational strength and flexibility. You
don’t hit more balls. You don’t add more swing thoughts to your
swing. You don’t do drills at the range til your hands are
bleeding. You just improve your core. That’s it!

The result?

You are able to initiate the downswing with your lower body,
create and retain stored energy in your core area, and you not
only stop your slice, but you add 30 yards to your drives!

That’s golf swing improvement the right way!

Again, this is just one example of a golf swing fault; and the
cause and solution to eliminating it forever.

Now golf is fun again!

So when you think of playing better golf; take a new approach to
your golf swing improvement
